Leftover household paint and chemicals from a home project can go to the city's Household Chemicals & Computer Recycling Facility. Usable leftovers such as cabinets, doors and fixtures may be accepted by the Habitat for Humanity Chicago ReStore.

What construction debris do you take?
Wood, drywall, metal, tile, flooring, carpet, cabinets, fixtures and small amounts of concrete, brick or dirt. Heavy materials are quoted separately because of their weight.
Do I have to sort the debris?
No. Pile it where the crew can reach it. If you can keep heavy material such as concrete and tile separate from light debris, the quote is usually easier to confirm.
Is there anything you won't take?
We can't take asbestos, lead-paint abatement waste, chemicals, solvents or fuel. If you suspect asbestos in older flooring, plaster or pipe wrap, have it tested before demolition.
Can the city collect my remodel debris?
No. Chicago's residential garbage service doesn't take construction debris. It needs a private hauler or a dumpster.
How do I pay?
