The crew cuts the tub into sections if needed, loads it and hauls it away.
Clean up

Before removal day
Drain it
Empty the tub fully. Keep treated water out of storm drains. The EPA guidance on treated water covers better options.
Shut off the power
Turn the tub off at the breaker. If you're not sure how to disconnect it, mention it when you book.
Clear the path
Move patio furniture, cars and planters out of the way between the tub and the alley or street. Unlock the gates.
Leftover spa chemicals
We can't take chlorine, bromine or other spa chemicals. Chicago residents can drop them off at the city's Household Chemicals & Computer Recycling Facility.

Hot Tub Removal: FAQ
How much is hot tub removal in Chicago?
It depends on the size of the tub, such as a standard spa versus a swim spa or oversized model, and how we get it out. Tight access or extra debris can change the price, and we confirm it with you before the job. See pricing.
Does the hot tub need to be drained first?
Yes. Drain it fully before we arrive. Treated spa water shouldn't go into a street or storm drain; the EPA's guidance on chemically treated water explains safer options such as letting the chemicals break down first or draining to a sanitary sewer cleanout where local rules allow.
What about the electrical hookup?
Turn the power off at the breaker before removal day. If you're not sure how to disconnect the tub, tell us when you book and we'll go over it with you.
Can you get a hot tub out of a backyard with a narrow gate?
Often, yes. That's where cutting the tub into sections comes in. Send photos of the path from the tub to the street or alley so we can plan the job and price it accurately.
Can you take the cover, steps and surrounding deck too?
The cover and steps go out with the tub. If there's a deck or platform around it, ask about adding deck removal. Extra debris is priced by load size.
Can you remove more than one hot tub?
Yes. We can handle several tubs in one visit. Send photos of each and we'll quote them together.
Is the old tub recycled?
Where we can, we separate the metal parts, such as the frame, pump and heater, for scrap recycling. The acrylic shell and foam insulation usually can't be recycled and go to a licensed disposal facility.
