Before pickup: protect your data
Back up your files, sign out of accounts, and factory-reset phones, tablets and laptops. For desktops and old drives, use a secure-erase tool or remove the drive and keep it. The EPA's electronics donation and recycling page has more tips.
Batteries too: we take household and car batteries along with your electronics. Your data is your responsibility: Junk Robbers doesn't wipe or destroy data.

Can I throw electronics in the trash in Illinois?
No. Many electronics, including TVs, computers, monitors and printers, are banned from Illinois landfills. See the Illinois EPA electronics recycling page.
Do you take broken electronics?
Yes. Working or not, we pick up TVs, computers, monitors, printers, game consoles, audio gear and small appliances.
Do you wipe my data?
No. We don't wipe data. Please remove or wipe hard drives and phones yourself before pickup. Back up what you need, then use the device's reset or a secure-erase tool, or keep the drive.
How much does TV pickup cost?
Flat-screen TVs under 65 inches start at $100, and TVs 65 inches or more start at $175. Mixed electronics are priced by truck space from the $129 minimum. See pricing.
Is there a free option?
Chicago residents can drop off eligible household electronics at the city's Household Chemicals & Computer Recycling Facility during its posted hours. Some retailers and manufacturers also run take-back programs. We're the option when you want it carried out for you.
